Tours, travels, hikes and journeys!

Last week, I took a 3 day, 3 night trip to Encinitas, CA. I’d stayed there a few years ago and loved it, needed to get away, so I went….come along and see the sights!

This lovely flower arrangement spells out Encinitas, and is in front of a restaurant on the corner of Encinitas Blvd. and the coast highway, 101, that goes through the part of town called “The Village”.

This beautiful mural was on the side of the above mentioned restaurant.

I did a lot of walking, checking out stores, a few restaurants, a natural food store, walked to the Self Realization Fellowship gardens, planted by Yogananda, and down to Moonlight beach. I’ll be posting blog posts about Moonlight Beach and the gardens.

I chose to stay at the Best Western Moonlight Beach hotel and was glad I did. It had a pretty healthy, and extensive free breakfast, a pretty pool, VERY cushy bed and pillows (And I”m very picky about wanting comfy beds and pillows), and I could even see the ocean from the corner of my patio.  The hotel is up on a hill, but only a short 12 min. walk to the beach and just 1 1/2 blocks from the coast highway and the village commerce.  I walked to the gardens from there, too, even though the gardens are in the south side of the village.  The natural food store, with a great soup/salad/taco bar/hot foods offering, was only a block away, too.

To the north of the hotel, across the street, was a lovely park, with trails, a playground, covered areas with tables, and barbecues, and nice grassy areas.

Walking along the sidewalk into the village I passed these bright electrical boxes.

On the way to Moonlight state beach, I passed this magical garden.  I couldn’t figure out if it was a community thing, next to a hostel so part of that, or what. If anyone has any information, please let me know.  This Welcome Garden took up a fairly large area, 1/2 block in length. It was planted with desert plants and had hundreds of painted rocks, painted by various individuals.

Encinitas is about 30 min. north of San Diego, on the coast. Come check it out.

    • Thanks for reading and commenting Robin. It was a good trip. I could have used weeks instead of 3 days but I appreciated the time I had there.

Nice, I went there a few occasions, a friend of mine used to live about two blocks away, and we would end there, on my visits. Also for a few years lived quite near to the Lake Shrine in the Palisades, a wonderful place as well. 🙂
