In my visit to Balboa Park, in San Diego, CA, last week, I made my way to Spanish Village. Spanish Village is designed to look like a little old village. The pathway is paved with various bright colored stones. There are studios of glass art, wood art, textiles, painting, jewelry, sculptures, gemstones and much much more. I found these 3 whimsical sculptures. Two of them are made to sit upon and there is a sign inviting you to have your picture taken in them and posted to a webpage.
The first one is a mermaid. In the background you can see a bright metal woman and a few other sculptures.
The next one is a mermaid chair you can sit upon. You can see a dog sculpture and a wooden female sculpture in the background.
And lastly, here is bench that is a couple of wild west characters.
If you’re in San Diego, come check out Balboa Park. Spanish Village is in the NE corner before you get to the Zoo.

The Botanical building regularly changes their displays. On this visit, there was a display of various orchids. Since I don’t know the names of them, I’ll just show you the photos. I love that these orchids are delicate and whimsical in color and shape. If you are in San Diego, come check out Balboa Park. There is so much to see and do. You can click on any photo to see it more closely.
Hope you have enjoyed these and my walk through the Botanical Building at Balboa Park.

Last week I went to Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. I hadn’t been there in awhile and wanted to see what was blooming. I found so much beauty in the Botanical Building. I enjoy walking around and looking at the lovely architecture but often what grabs my eye is the plant life.
I’m dividing my post into two posts. This first one includes pictures of 5 beautiful plants and their neighbors. As usual, I don’t know what their names are but I love the textures, shapes, and colors.

This one had these large green leaves, that almost look like the lily pads you see in ponds. And then, it had this tiny delicate blossoms.
This one has thicker leaves that are scalloped.
I love the design on these leaves and how one side is various greens and the back side is that deep wine color.
These blossoms were a surprise amidst the large fronds.
There was entire center planter with these lovely variegated fall colored plants.
I hope you have enjoyed these. Thanks for joining me on the walk through the Botanical Garden. If you are in San Diego, come check out Balboa Park. There is so much to see and do there.
